Monthly subscriptions keep you ahead of the game with one birthday card, one thank you card, and two (more or less) general cards. This box was sent out in November and included two holiday cards: a Christmas card and a more general holiday card. Here's why I chose each card:
To date, this is my favorite Christmas card that I have designed. This is a Didone typeface that I absolutely love. The design really represents the reality of the holidays to me. Like the holidays, it's beautiful yet messy, frantic, busy, and fun.
The inside of the card says, "May the mess, madness, and mayhem of a merry Christmas light your home with liveliness, laughter, and love."As a lover of language, I wanted alliteration in the inside sentiment—I managed to squeeze in two! My designs, in general, feature the irony of sentiment and reality as they crash together. Mess, madness, and mayhem are things we don't typically want, but there is something about the holidays as we prepare for gatherings, church events, plays, musicals, dinners, parties—the liveliness, laughter, and love of the holidays—that invites a frantic energy that should also be celebrated.
This card began as a custom card for dear friends who agreed it should also be available to others. For this design, I used my handwriting as the image and a favorite line from a holiday song.
This thank you greeting card is elegant and perfect for the holiday season. When thanking holiday hosts for their graciousness, this card will stand out with it's Christmas plaid envelope liner.
This birthday card is from my Never Be without the Perfect Card collection. I treated the flowers that I found from a collection of historic images to a modern treatment of navy color block with happy birthday written in gold. It's classic and modern at the same time. Sometimes you simply need a beautiful card to express a sweet sentiment.
A subscription box is an excellent way to build a collection of greeting cards so that you always have the perfect card on hand for any event, whether it's known in advance or sneaks up.
